AALEA Delegation Pays Tribute to the Jashari Family in Prekaz, Kosovo

Prekaz, Kosovo — A delegation from the American Albanian Law Enforcement Association (AALEA) recently visited Prekaz to pay solemn tribute to Commander Adem Jashari, his family, and the martyrs who lost their lives during the Serbian military campaign in Kosovo in the 1990s.

At the Cemetery of the Martyrs, the delegation honored the memory of 58 individuals who were killed, including Adem Jashari and numerous members of his family. The events in Prekaz represent a significant and defining moment in Kosovo’s modern history and remain a powerful symbol of resistance, sacrifice, and the pursuit of self-determination.

During the visit, members of the delegation laid flowers and observed a moment of reflection in recognition of the lives lost. The site stands as a place of remembrance and historical importance for the people of Kosovo and the Albanian diaspora worldwide.

The delegation was received by Mr. Rifat Jashari, head of the Jashari family, and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to honor the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Discussions during the visit emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory, promoting education about the events of the 1990s, and strengthening ties between Albanians in Kosovo and the diaspora.
